Databases and E-Resources for ‘Walk-in’ Users

Access to some of The Albert Sloman Library’s e-resources may be permitted to external readers, alumni, ex-members of staff and members of partner institutions within the library premises.

Such ‘walk-in’ users must complete a ‘Visitors E-Resource Access Form’ at the Enquiry Desk on Floor One of The Albert Sloman Library, in addition two forms of proof of identification and address are required i.e. one must include a photo (e.g. drivers licence or passport) and the other proof of current postal address (e.g. utilities bill).*

Once the registration process has been completed a member of library staff will log you on to one of the PC’s enabled for walk-in use and will then log you on to the resource you require access to.

Access to e-resources is subject to strict licensing permissions and copyright law and the range of e-resources available is limited by licensing restrictions and thus does not include all of the services available to members of the university. E-resources can only be used for educational purposes i.e. teaching and learning, private study or research. E-Resources cannot be used for any commercial use.

Some of the resources available, include:
American Chemical Society
Business Source Complete
Oxford Journals
Project Muse
Public Information Online

Please note: Most of these sites allows free searching but access to the full text is by subscription only and the Albert Sloman Library does not subscribe to all titles available.
