Starting blocks series

A programme of short lunchtime training sessions with the aim of improving skills in finding and referencing information.  These sessions will be of particular benefit to 1st and 2nd year undergraduates.  Further sessions on the library catalogue, e-books and advanced search techniques are being developed.

How to reference a range of resources, from journal articles to online images.

Get on track with searching – introducing the Discovery service
Thursday 25th April, 1.00 – 1.30, Library study room 1
Thursday 2nd May, 12.00 – 12.30, Library study room 1

How to find the information you need quickly and effectively using the new one-stop shop for searching.

To book a place on any of these sessions log on to the library section of Moodle and click on ‘Research & Assignment Help’.  Sessions will only run with a minimum class size of 5.

Workshop to improve searching skills: Thursday 7th March

As part of Employability Week the library is running an interactive workshop on Thursday 7th March at 10.30 am in the upstairs library computer room.

If you reguarly need to search for information for assignments or your dissertation, the workshop will help you:

  • Plan your search
  • Select relevant resources to search
  • Use advanced features on databases and search engines

Please bring any search topics or queries with you.
